The Psychology Of The Parents Of Balloon Boy

This past week we saw the news media captivated by the idea that a 6-year-old boy, Falcon Heene had been carried off by a weather balloon. That is until the boy was later found in his own garage attic and shortly thereafter it was revealed on a television news show that the entire incident was likely a hoax. In replying to a reporter's question, the young Falcon turned to his dad on camera and said, "You guys said that, umm, we did this for the show." Oops.

The parents - Richard Heene and Mayumi Heene - have all along claimed it was not a hoax or a publicity stunt. Now, according to The New York Times, the parents will voluntarily surrender to police as soon as charges are filed, which is expected to happen on Wednesday.

While the truth continues to unfold, the police in the investigation have concluded it was likely indeed a publicity stunt: "We have evidence to indicate it was a publicity stunt done with the hope of marketing themselves to a reality-television show sometime in the future," said Larimer County sheriff Jim Alderden on Sunday afternoon at a news conference in Fort Collins, Colorado.

So that leaves us with the inevitable question - what could possibly psychologically motivate parents to use their child's very life in order to further themselves?

We see clues to the answer in some other information that's trickling out about the parents. ABC News noted that former business partner Barbara Slusser - who chased hurricanes and other storms with the Heenes - that they parted ways when Slusser felt that the Heenes often put their kids in harm's way. Slusser told ABC News, "The last straw for us was when Hurricane Gustav and Hurricane Ike were heading toward the Texas coastline and Heene wanted to go back there and take the kids."

So we seem to have a set of parents who already don't quite understand the idea of how to raise children in a safe, responsible and thoughtful manner, thinking nothing of storm-chasing hurricanes and tornadoes with their young children in tow. Storm-chasing, of course, can be a very dangerous and unpredictable endeavor. One of the reasons adults do it is for the thrill of the unpredictability of the storm - putting oneself in harm's way to experience a ferocious component of nature. But your children? They aren't old enough to make such decisions for themselves - they trust their parents' good judgment and experience.

But an account on Gawker by someone who worked with Richard Heene sheds even more light on the Heenes' motivation - money and additional fame. This was a family that had been on the television program, Wife Swap, and they had already tasted celebrity. They wanted more of it.

There are 24 hours in a day. Eight hours is for sleeping and the next 16 hours are for our usual schedule. In Stephen Covey's time management book (First Things First), he noted that most of us spend our 16 hours in the third and fourth quadrant, the quadrant of deception and waste.

If you will really look at our daily activities, Stephen Covey is actually right. Most of us spend hours watching tv, reading unimportant emails, answering calls, and other things that actually does not help us accomplish anything.

Stephen Covey's time management is a great tool that can help us finish more important things before a day ends. You just have to focus yourself and experiment with the quadrants and how it can help you. In getting things done you have to set your mind on what you will do. The activities in the first quadrant need to be managed in the best way that you can. Focus on the Quadrant of Quality and Personal Leadership because this can help you achieve your goals faster.

The last two quadrants should be avoided as much as possible. The third quadrant looks deceiving, it may look important but it is not. While the fourth quadrant will never help you get things done.

How we manage our time is all up to us. Whatever the consequences of our actions might be, we only have ourselves to blame.

The video's unforgettable comment that "at any time there are as many bacteria on our skin as there are people on the earth", does give one pause. But , hopefully, that pause will lead to healthy acceptance and keep us focused on normal preventative hand washing, casting aside our antibacterial fixations.

The idea of forgiveness is something that is based entirely upon the bible scripture: 'Do unto others as you would do for yourself', Repaying karma basically means making amends and correcting your previous misdeeds in an effort to repay them.

In theory, once a person does these things, their energy fields can be re-patterned, and things like tranquility, care, gentleness, and other positive things.

Though it can get exhausting, Regression Therapy has successfully changed many lives. The majority of those who have gone through this have stated that their attitude and outlook on life has changed. They have also become much stronger as a result of it.

However, if one is to ever reach such an end, then a person must be committed to the entire process, and of course change the way that they believe their life will turn out.

When we consciously attempt to do something, our Reticular Activation System (RAS) will search the sub-conscious mind for any relevant information it holds, and bring it to our attention. If we're walking down a street, we're only made aware of things that have meaning to us - the rest is just background noise.

Therefore, if our conscious mind has generally been transferring positive, upbeat messages to our sub-conscious mind, then that's what it will send back. But if our sub-conscious has been fed a bunch of defeatist, downbeat messages, then equally that's also what will come back.

Achievers, it appears, are able to manipulate the messages streamimg through to their sub-conscious minds. They do this by choosing the exact messages the conscious mind sends and deliberately programming their RAS. As such, it's an essential tool for achieving goals, as the sub-conscious mind can't tell the difference between real or imaginary events.

In other words, we need to create a very specific picture of our goal in our conscious mind. The RAS will then pass this on to our subconscious - which, as it believes everything it's told, will then help us achieve the goal. It does this by making us aware of all the relevant information which otherwise might have stayed as 'background noise'.

Napoleon Hill said that we can achieve any realistic goal if we keep on thinking of that goal, and stop thinking any negative thoughts about it. Of course, if we keep thinking that we can't achieve a goal, our subconscious will help us not to achieve it.

The procedure of reaching our complete state is facilitated through Energy Healing. When our true nature shines through we have gained our complete state. And the creator has bestowed upon us our true nature.

There are many filters that block our true nature from shining through to the world. What makes up these filters? The filters are made of our thoughts and emotions. Both expressed through our wwords.

Why have I chosen to focus on the language that we use? I could simply have focused on thoughts or emotions. I decided that language were the simplest to observe so I decided to select them for observation. And they are the easiest for others to watch and point out to us.

If your friend states that you seem angry it is not hard to have a different belief. But if they said that you said "I hate everybody" or "I love everybody" that is hard to challenge. We are able to see our growth by the language that we use. If you want your life to change then simply change your words.

It is tough to directly change your thoughts because thoughts are so fleeting. I am sure you have noticed how your thoughts roam from topic to topic. To catch them in any act is very hard.

The same is true for your emotions. They have a tendency to just jump up and surprise us. By the time we recognize that we are in a strong emotional state, it probably is to late to change it.

But language are different. When you speak a sentence you have the ability to immediately change it. You can change you words completely or simply change the order of what you have said. Instead of saying "You make me mad" you could say "What you are doing makes me mad". There is a world of difference between those two sentences.

You may wonder how this helps with changing the filters that block our true nature from coming through. To understand our filters all we need to do is look at our irrational negative emotions. Emotions such as fear, hate, jealousy, anger etc... These negative emotions are best replaced with positive emotions such as gratitude, love, patience, kindness etc...

We can replace the negative with the positive by watching our Language and what we say. To have our thoughts and emotions become more positive we need to make our words turned into more positive.

The more we clear away the negative the more the positive grows and the more our true nature shines through.

So you are dreaming to become a singer? That is great, know you now what you want to do with your life. But I am sure you have one big question on your mind. What does it take to be a good singer, and how much learning is involved in learning how to sing? Everyone starting out asks the same question.

The first step on the path of learning how to sing is lessons. Despite what your parent or parents may think they cannot teach you how to sing. Unless of course they are an instructor, or an accomplished singer themselves. This in most cases involves you going to a tutor and being taught the basics of singing. Be forewarned though this is going to be rough, and will probably make you want to quit.

Having the thought of quitting, once in a while, is actually good. Why? Because it also gives you a chance to think about what you are going to miss when you quit. In life, you always have to give your best shot... giving up is inexcusable.

Practicing vocalizations and simple songs, the basic singing exercises, is the beginning of learning how to sing. For those who doesn't have patience, doing the basics could be boring and childish. You may actually find this funny, hearing yourself singing the same song over and over again. But remember, the only way up and to make it sturdy is to master the basics.

Once you're done mastering the basics of singing, your vocal coach will then have you start on singing actual songs. By singing actual songs, you'll be able to try to match the role that you are learning to sing for. Don't get disappointed if you didn't sing the song perfectly at first try, because it really takes a lot of practice and vocalization to be able to sing beautifully.

During this time you may also be required to do physical exercises. These are required to develop your lung capacity, and ensure you have plenty of breath to sing with. Make sure to take good care of yourself, and stay healthy. You will have a sore throat or two during your training. After all you haven't done this before, and how else are you going to learn.

The few months, or maybe years you may spend learning how to sing will pay off big time in the long run. When you get to the point where you can practice and develop on your own never forget to practice notes you haven't tried before. This will ensure you stay versatile, and allow you to be flexible in your singing abilities. Considering the dog eat dog attitude of the industry that's a very important ability. If you can stick out from the crowd this will give you an edge in finding work.

Getting the rewards of all your hard work in learning how to sing may take time, but it can be really simple. The more you vocalize and exercise, the better you become. You will be able to hit the right notes and pronounce the words correctly as well. In learning how to sing, practice is really necessary.
