Can I Really Astral Project?

There are millions of people who believe that astral projection is real and that anyone can, and have, achieved this altered state. The key to this projection is practice and that is all it takes to astral project. Believed to be an ancient practice, followers say this practice should be treated with respect. Astral projection is a lot like meditating or yoga and comes in many different forms.

Lucid dreaming is one type of astral projecting. Lucid dreaming is of course when we are conscious of our dreaming " this is actually astral projecting. In order to lucid dream, all you need to do is to tell yourself 'I am dreaming' while in the dream.

Saying this key phrase 'I am dreaming' over and over again, allows you to wake up in your dream and do anything you desire. This may take time to learn and can be difficult, so don't be discouraged.

Astral projection is something you have done before, although you may not realize that you have done so. Have you ever awoken from a particularly vivid dream remembering every detail? You were not dreaming this " you were astral projecting.

The ability to astral project starts with believing that you can do this. Everyone can astral project " its just a matter of freeing your mind of the doubts which are keeping you from astral projecting.

Methods that help you to relax like meditating helps to promote projection. Meditation prepares the mind and body for astral projection and all it takes is practice and time through meditating properly.

If you are wondering where to begin when it comes to meditation, try sitting in a comfortable chair in a peaceful place. When you are relaxed, clear your mind, if stress or work pops into your head, push it out and focus on nothing. Focus on your breathing and make it deep and slow. Let your troubles leave your mind through your mouth as you breathe out. This will allow you to reach the relaxed state perfect for astral projection.

Reaching an alternate state of consciousness is the next step. Continue to work on breathing and now your primary goal is to remove stress and completely clear your mind. Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. As breathing becomes slower and deepens, focus on your body and relaxing it.

Starting from your toes, work upwards, relaxing every part of your body as you proceed. You can do this by either tensing then relaxing each part of your body or by moving up, visualizing each part of you relaxing as you go.

With each exhalation, you should feel the tension leaving your body. Once your body is completely and totally relaxed you will be ready to move onto the next stage necessary for you to successfully astral project.

At this point, you are completely ready and prepared for sleep, but it is important to stay alert during this time. Many practicing projectors come up with a phrase such as 'I can fly, I can fly' there is no wrong phrase, so you can come up with your own.

When the human mind is unoccupied, it will tend to wander; this will ruin the concentration you need to astral project. Just keep repeating your phrase to yourself and taking slow, deep breaths.

There are different ways to achieve a state of altered consciousness. You can repeat your chosen phrase or do it another way. Imagine a glowing light, and then imagine you entering it and transforming yourself into this body of light. This is referred to as the body of light technique.

As you start to astral project, there are three signs which you can watch for to know that you are doing so successfully. The first is a sensation of motion, even though your physical body is perfectly still. The second is 'seeing' color and light, even though your eyes will be closed. Last, youll hear voices. These voices will either be urging you to continue or to stop " this is a sure fire sign that you are on your way to astral projecting.
