By Trevor Johnson

How to break bad habits is something most of us need the answer to at least once in a while. Breaking a bad habit is never easy. But it can be done. It takes some dedication and effort. But it can be done. Habits fall into two categories: good and bad. The good habits are the ones we want to keep. The bad habits are the ones we are always trying to break.

First, we must examine the cause for our bad habit. And let's note why we feel that the habit is bad. Many of us consider smoking to be a bad habit. It is responsible for so many health problems. Heavy smokers are prone to get cancer, emphysema, heart problems, and more. It also produces undesirable effects on appearances. These are all valid reasons to quit the bad habit of smoking.

Now let's take a look at the benefits from breaking this bad habit. How do we benefit from quitting smoking? Well, we will rid the risks of the health complications from occurring. That is a definite plus. We will live longer. The choice is yours. Break the bad habit and avoid all the nasty stuff that come with it? Or keep the bad habit and embrace it for the temporary rewards.

Nicotine can be addicting. That is why smoking can become such an addicting habit, a filthy bad habit! Let's examine what you will be losing. In the beginning, it is natural to be feeling symptoms of withdrawal.

You might experience nausea, irritability, loss of concentration, and all sorts of other worrying short term side effects. But these feelings are only temporary and are your body's way of dealing with the change. After getting through this stage, kicking your bad habit will pay off.

Be sure never to lose focus. Remember the reasons why you want to break the bad habit. Think of the positive outcome that you will achieve once you've done the deed. Your dedication and hard work will soon pay off.
