Top Hangers Can Properly Organize Your Closet

By Sky Borg

There are great ways for someone to organize their closet, and having the right hanger can help. You want to be certain that you start with durable top hangers to keep your clothes nice and neatly organized in your closet. The first suggestion would be to purchase extra hangers if you don't have enough to hang all of your clothes.

Once you are ready you want to remove everything from your closet. You know you have boxes and piles of shoes that need reorganization. You'll want to do this not only to organize but also to get the benefit of finding something that you don't want or need anymore. When it is in good condition, you can give it to a charitable organization, and have the warm fuzzies all over. If it's not, let it go now, and rid yourself of the clutter.

After that, take a minute to separate your clothes by item. Put all of your skirts, dresses and pants in their respective piles. Pullover sweaters should not be put on hangers or top hangers but neatly folded and put on a shelf or in a drawer to keep from stretching.

Now you should section off your closet for appropriate purposes. For example save the highest rod in your closet to hang dresses and pants on. Shorter rods can accommodate shirts and skirts. Top hangers can easily be used on either level.

Consider this important bit of advice: "press as you go". Take the extra time to iron your clothes as you put them on your top hangers. It will certainly add some time to the chore, but wearable clothes when you want them is worth it. Ironing every time you put something in the closet is a good habit to make.

One optional step that many people take is to organize their items by color. By taking the time to do this step as you organize the closet you will make it easier to get dressed later. Choosing the clothes for a day is usually based on color coordination, and you can save a lot of time when all the colors are grouped together.

Hang pants and skirts on clip or top quality press hangers only. Folding them over a regular hanger guarantees you'll end up with a horizontal crease where you don't want one. If you have pants made of lightweight fabric, feel free to put two on one hanger.

And finally, find an appropriate area to arrange your shoes and accessories. Scarves and ties hang nicely from clips designed for regular hangers. A hanging shoetree is an ideal space saving tool that utilizes the back of your closet door. Don't be afraid to be creative and work with what you have.
