Advice About Men Should Be Heeded!

By Alan Bentley

How is it that romance can be one of the most pleasant human experiences at one moment and the next can be very unpleasant? Emotions set us apart from any other species on the planet and it often seems as if we are spending all our time working out how to comprehend them. They are so difficult to control!

You might think that you have come across the man of your dreams and someone who you want to be with the rest of your life, but then something might happen to completely turn everything on its head. Go figure - now, more than ever you need some advice about men.

You can easily get confused by trying to take on board all the conflicting advice about men that you can hear. In the end it all falls down to fundamentals and one of the major rules is just to treat them the way that you would like to be treated yourself. If you are open and don't hide an agenda of any kind you should avoid failure. However, if you try and get closer by just trying to be "one of the boys," you are on the wrong track. Act as his girlfriend, not as another boy/friend.

Remember that you should never sweat the small stuff in a relationship, which is a saying that goes for the rest of life as well. It is amazing how many breakups have resulted over something insignificant and when you sit down and reflect on it you realize how silly both of you were. Take the lead and you might even use some of this advice about men to great effect by making him see it from your point of view.

When you are trying to make an impression make sure that you do not go over board. By all means look at yourself and present yourself but don't be overly self-conscious. Always remember that he is with you for a reason and you do not need to be asking for re-assurance all the time. Guys don't find this appealing at all.

Do not seek advice about men if you're not prepared to work on the advice that you get. When your relationship has an obvious issue, you need to be the one to try and change it all. Fall back on fundamentals and both of you need to look at the relationship from a fresh perspective.

There are fundamental differences between women and men and women like to say that men are from Mars. It's true that there are differences but we are fundamentally looking for the same things, whether we are male or female. Companionship, belonging and involvement are all cherished even though we have a different way of approaching them.

No advice about men would be complete without reference to his ego. While the word has negative connotations, understand that it is ingrained within the male species that he be the provider or the breadwinner, dating back to prehistoric times. Understand that many guys will want to be seen as the dominant one in this respect and you should at least humor him to make it so!
