Why Can't I Remember My Past Life?

By Alec Pittman

Ever since the beginning of time, people have believed in reincarnation. Even now in modern times reincarnation continues to find a place in many religions, whether it's the Japanese, the Chinese, the Africans, or even the aborigines of Australia. Even many new age religions believe in the concept of having lived previous lives, and that a past life can have a significant influence on one's present life.

Because it is often believed that a past life has an effect on your current health and well being, many people believe that it's important to know yourself, and also who you were in your past lives. It may well be in your own best interest that you settle the demons which may have been left behind. Also, it could well be worth your while to gather up all the strengths and knowledge which you've gained during past lives, in order to be a stronger better person in this life and in future lives.

While some people have disturbing dreams and others have memories which don't quite seen as though they belong to them, it is however not always possible to tell whether or not you have one or more past lives. Of course, while most people who believe in reincarnation tend to believe that everyone has had a past life; mathematics goes a long way in proving that there must at least be some new souls. Apart from dreams and memories, other indications to look out for include:

* Have you ever experienced an unusually strong attraction to a specific culture, even though you've not been exposed to it in any way during this life? Do you have to an unexplained passion towards art of a particular era? If you have, then you should do a little research in order to determine whether or not this era only covers a short space of time. If it does then it's a good indication that there is some connection.

* Intense emotions with regards to a specific incident in history could also suggest that you may have been involved in one way or another with that specific event.

* Phobias and allergies which to the best of your knowledge do not originate from your childhood years, could also be linked to a previous life.

While the above list is far from being a complete list of indicators, it does however point out a few of the common ones. However, even if you have experienced one or more of the above, that does not necessarily mean you are remembering a past life. Instead, you should focus on looking for some type of pattern with regards to the things which tend to attract you for no obvious reasons. Once you do start to notice a pattern forming, putting the puzzle together will become increasingly easy.

Interestingly enough, hypnosis and self hypnosis make it possible for people to access their past lives. In fact you now have past life regression therapists who specialize solely in helping people to access their past lives. These therapists make use of 'deep hypnotic remembering' in order to recover memories which are locked in your subconscious.

If on the other hand you prefer the idea of self hypnosis, then you should find a technique which also helps you to achieve deep relaxation in addition to hypnosis. Also, it is advisable that you spend some time working with the chosen technique before actually using it for regression.

Considering that the most you'll experience is a vivid recollection of a past life, there is essentially nothing to worry about with regards to your personal safety. On the other hand your experience may not even be very intense, and you may simply experience some shadows and feelings of a past life.

Of course, just as good memories usually pave the way for good feelings, bad memories can pave the way for bad feelings. In that case you will simply wake up to an uneasy feeling similar to what one experiences after having had a nightmare. Of course you may not even experience any bad memories at all.

The all important issue here is that you actually remember something from a past life so that you can then move on. Remember, when the subconscious mind is suppressed, only then can these memories lead to further problems. By having the ability to understand and to accept what has happened in a past life, you'll be able to experience this live from a different perspective.

The theory of karma states that if one is good and performs acts of kindness, then you will have good karma. On the other hand, if you are a bad person or you change to become bad then you will simply have bad karma, in which case your life will be plagued by negative events and this will continue until such time that there's a balance between your good and bad karma.

Unfortunately many people tend to get confused with regards to this interpretation. Contrary to what some believe, we don't have to be bad or suffer simply because of a past life. Instead, each time you are born you are presented with a new opportunity to do things the right way. As a result, once you accept the fact that a certain memory may indeed be from a past life, and that you're not necessarily a bad person in this life, then you can move on and have as good a life has anyone else.
